Wanted Symphony

Vibrant, passionate, energetic and adventurous! Those are just some of the words that can be used to describe local fusion rock outfit Wanted Symphony - Since breaking onto the scene in October last year, the band has been on an exciting musical journey and has never looked back. Uniting four young and talented musicians, the band brings together a variety of influences and a whole lot of fun. Wanted Symphony definitely is a promise of something fresh - Together, they dabble in a genre they like to call ‘experimental fusion rock’. The band writes, arranges and produces their own music – uniquely characterized by a creative mixture of sounds, solid musical composition and strong lyrics. In the process, they have had the privilege of churning out crowd favourites such as ‘Breathless’, ‘Midnight Chatter’, and most recently ‘A Place Called Home’. The band performs live regularly and has rocked the house down on numerous occasions with their electrifying performances. Having already chalked up countless shows and feature performances nationwide, Wanted Symphony was recently blessed with a TV appearance as finalists on a reality show sponsored by Coca-Cola. Aside from that, they were also interviewed and featured in local newspapers Kosmo! and the News Straits Times. Despite having fun on stage and enjoying what they do, more importantly Wanted Symphony aims to touch and impact people with their music. As lead singer Daniel Wong puts it, “Our aim is not just to make music that people can remember and enjoy, but above everything we seek to speak into the hearts and lives of our listeners with our songs and the words that we sing, in the hope that people will go home carrying a positive message to their family and friends.” With the release of their much awaited debut single ‘You Will Be Mine’, Wanted Symphony now sets their sights on scaling greater heights. The band is just getting warmed up – there is much more to come so make sure you watch this space!

Fragments & Frictions

Fragments & Frictions or FnF for short was founded by Sherwin Singh (bass/vocals) in early 2010. Sherwin got the band name by mistake while listening to Angels & Airwaves's Fragments & Fictions. He didn't notice that the word was Fictions and not Frictions. Sherwin thought it was cool and went on to name the band Fragments & Frictions. After the band name was settled, Sherwin happened to see his good friend Andrew Kornnish perform at a battle of the bands event with Andrew's band Stalking Shannon. Sherwin instantly set his sights on roping Andrew in for his new band. Andrew agreed to join the band and soon after Brendon Khoo filled the position of drums. After 2 months of composing and rehearsals, Fragments & Frictions has already a number of original songs under their belts and have played in various events and places, notably FEYST Concert and An Honest Mistake's Debut Album Showcase . Their biggest achievement so far was bagging third place in DiGi's talent competition DiGiLive Tour on August 8 2010.

RevuForte

Subang Jaya native, 20-year-old, Afiq, started out the band as a side project with the help of a few local youngsters a few years back. Claiming that their main sound is hard rock, they cite Trivium, Slipknot, Muse, and Arch Enemy as their main band influences. The name means “ to entertain loudly”. The band’s sole mission in life is to continuously make music that will constantly inspire people to play music. After a few member turnovers, they are now a 3-piece band.Back in 2007, lead singer Afiq was working on a new side project band, and he called Asrul(bass),Daniel(drums) and Ryan(guitar) and together they formed a band. They called themselves,RevuForte. They recorded their first single titled 'Greed’. After recording their first single, Afiq and Daniel had continuous creative differences and soon after, Daniel left the band. They found new drummer named Adrie.Things were starting to turn around when Ryan decided to quit for personal reasons and Asrul has since been removed by the band for Afiq and Asrul had had different ideas about their own music ideology .Now, Afiq has found Bulya as their new bassist and together, they are planning to record more songs in the future.

Unexpected Mercy

We are six passionate musicians, with a great desire to influence and to inspire the world through our blend of metal / hardcore / death metal music.Formed in 2007, after a few rounds of slight line-up changes, Unexpected Mercy are finally set with a permanent line-up.The band started off with Ian and his sister; Vivian together with Russel to form a band that plays hardcore music thanks to the many musical influences by the bands that they started to listen to that plays hardcore music. A few months later Daniel joined themand together they have a couple of jamming sessions. Former band members started to leave thus pushing them to seek for members to fill in the spaces.During the end of the year 2007, Ian met Joey at a college music event, thus prompting him the position as the vocalist for Unexpected Mercy. Without hesitation, Joey gladly accepted the offer and since then he is the best candidate for the position. At the beginning of 2008, they started to compose their own songs and atthe same time they were struggling and seeking for a full-time bassist in the band. Late 2008, Joshua came into the picture nicely when they met him at a show. After that, there’s no turning back and a new journey begins for Unexpected Mercy with a steady and permanent line-up.With Joey on vocals, Ian and Russel on guitars, Joshua on bass, Daniel on keyboards, and Vivian on drums, Unexpected Mercy is now poised to impact the music scene with passion and sheer determination. Unexpected Mercy's music is comprised with solid double-bass kicks, with hard-hitting snare hits; creating beats and grooves, working together with basslines that are groovy as well as solid bass fills, mixing them with both chugging guitars and also riffs combining with guitar solos, thus bringing in the atmospheric keyboards and lastly melodic vocals and not forgetting low growls and high pitch screams that are orchestrated into a concoction of brutal breakdowns, prominent symphonic keyboards with electronica samples, guitar riffs and solos, and also with a melodic feel in those songs that can inspire you.Lyrically, Unexpected Mercy writes about the normal struggles we face in our everyday lives, but yet we can find hope within their belief and their faith, to encourage and to impart a whole new level and mindset towards the world. So far, 3 songs have been recorded and released in the year 2010, following plans to release an EP in the 1st quarter of 2011, then followed by plans to also release a full
length debut by the end of 2011.

Rosevelt

Since Rosevelt was unleashed upon the world in June 2009, we have been living out the dream in the local music scene. This dream is simple: to blaze trails of our own among the footsteps of local indie music greats. The spirit of Rosevelt is best summed up in our public debut at Indie Youth Fest 2009: indie, young, and in the serious business of having fun.Within the same year, we were honoured with a slot in Rock The World 2009 and it has been the ride of our lives ever since. Rosevelt has had the pleasure of playing live at various venues, such as The Library, Laundry Bar, and Urbanattic, as well as many events including Fly FM Campur Chart, Youth ‘10, and Urbanscapes 2010.We have also been rocking the campus circuit, such as Tunku Abdul Rahman College, Sunway University College, Monash University College, and HELP University, so much so that Rosevelt was nominated for ‘Best College Act’ at the Voize Independent Music Awards 2010.So what kind of rock music exactly do we play? Some say Hard Melodic Rock, some say Alternative Rock. We say the kind of rock that will have you headbanging till your neck hurts. Our single Madicine, which debuted in June 2010, made it to XFM and also spent 8 weeks at the top of Cravecharts.
